THYOSIL CXP5045 is a multifunctional polymer specially designed torestore molecular weight and IV (intrinsic viscosity) in degraded polymers.
THYOSILCXP5045 allows to upgrade low quality recycle and can be usedduring processing to increase the melt strength of polyesters or polyamide. THYOSIL CXP5045 also has high epoxyfunctionality, this allows for rapid reaction with condensation thermoplastics,resulting in higher molecular weight.

1.       Dry blending
   
     干混
a)       Flake or masterbatch can be dry-blended  with pre-dried and cold (<40°C)  plastic pellets or flakes with the aid of a low shear mixer such as a tumble  mixer or conical mixer.

b)      THYOSIL  CXP5045 can be mixed  with other materials in a high shear mixer below 50°C.

2.       Addition of THYOSIL CXP5045 on a single screw extruder, twin screw extruder  or kneader

a)        Dry-blend prepared as in (1) can be volumetrically,  gravimetrically or flood fed directly into mixing zone of the extruder

b)       Gravimetric  feed metering systems can be used to feed flake or masterbatch product form  in a parallel stream with the plastic directly into the feeding zone of the  extruder. Belt and disc feeders are particularly recommended.
   
Twin-Screw  Feeders Non intermeshing spiral screw with 6mm clearance between the screw and the tube  recommended. Eliminate agglomeration at the throat or feed zone by  maintaining tube temperature below 80°C.

d)       Side  feed systems and other types of forced dosing extruders may be employed with  all solid product forms, except for fine powder, to feed the products  downstream. Residence time recommendations are given below in reference to  downstream feeds.

3.       Addition during injection molding and  combined injection-blow molding operations

Twin-Screw no  intermeshing spiral screw with 6mm  clearance between the screw and the tube recommended.

Pre-dry the base plastic at  manufacturer’s recommended conditions.

In some instances small amounts of THYOSIL CXP5045 can be compensated  for poor or incomplete drying, thus bringing robustness and saving to your  operations.

Hygroscopicity: there is no evidence of  bulkabsorption of moisture over extended periods of time for THYOSIL CXP5045.
   
At normal  conditions of temperature and relative humidity its surface reaches  equilibrium saturation through adsorption at less than 0,25% of moisture.
   
At  extreme conditions its surface reaches equilibrium saturation at less than  0,50% of moisture.
   
This means that THYOSIL CXP5045 can generally be processed without any drying,  even after long exposure to drastic conditions bringing no more than 5ppm  moisture per every 0,1% used.
   
吸湿性:THYOSIL CXP5045在长时间内没有大量吸收水分的迹象。在正常的温度和相对湿度条件下,其表面通过吸附小于0.25%的水分达到平衡饱和度。

Ins systems where moisture sensitivity  is extreme, THYOSIL CXP5045 can be  dried in a desiccant dryer ant 30°C  for 1 hour, prior to use.

Where feeding  solid THYOSIL CXP5045   in any solid form, except masterbatch,  into the first zone of the extruder or infection molder, we recommend to  operate this zone at 20°C  to 40 °C lower  temperature than normal. This will prevent early melting and agglomeration of  the additive.

THYOSIL  CXP5045 is thermally stable up to 320°C.  Above this temperature additive decomposition may occur.

Residence time

THYOSIL CXP5045  reacts quickly. Its reaction will be over 99% complete if at least 3 min  residence time is provided at 200°C  in a well-mixed system. Alternatively, 45 sec residence time at 280°C will provide 99%  completion.

These limits accommodate most extrusion  and injection molding processed for the recommended thermoplastics and  applications.

Extruder pressure effects挤出机压力效应
Theuse of THYOSIL CXP5045 in reactive extrusion or reactive injection moldingoperations increases significantly the molecular weight, this lead to anincrease in melt viscosity, which in turn raises the pressure observed in theequipment.
The table below exemplifies the large increases indie pressure that are observed in PET as THYOSILCXP5045 is added to a large extruder. Similar increases are expected inother plastics.

The pressureincreases both at the die and in front screen system may be 25% to 100% higherthan typical operating pressure for higher usage levels. Instantaneous pressure variations and spikes are due to largeinstantaneous changes in melt viscosity. At constant temperature, changes inmelt viscosity are often due to variable feed rate and/or poor mixing.

Troubleshooting故障排除
&Oslash;     In case of unexpected highpressure:如出现意想不到的高压:
1)      Decrease the feed rate of THYOSIL CXP5045.降低THYOSIL CXP5045的进料速度。
2)      Decrease the RPM. This decrease pressure on single screwextruders and flood-fed twin-screw extruders, and will decrease hating onstarve-fed twin-screw extruders.)

3)      Slowly increase the temperature, starting from the die andthen from the last to the zone.
4)      With pressure under control, increase the THYOSIL CXP5045 feed slowly.
5)      For steady operation follow recommendations given in thesection “extruder pressure effects”
